Website optimisation & Google

Website optimisation and Google is a key element of ALL businesses that ALL business owners need to understand.  I appreciate that in general SEO can be a bit of a "black art".

I often hear business owners tell me that they have a website, but what do they get from it?  Any new business?  Do existing customers even know it exists?

Too often small business owners spend too much money on a website that does not get the financial reward a website for 1/10th of the price tag could provide.

Currently, Google is going through an evolution of quite potentially dominating even more than it does.  We have seen Microsoft attempt to hit Google with its new search engine called Bing, however, I am yet to see any real great advantage.  In fact I still can't see the difference between the old MSN Search and Bing!

The media outlets are just starting to realise that their empire is about to fall over.  For some time it has been crumbling, but now the inevitable is about to happen as recently reported in The Age.

So what does all this mean?  To be connected to your audience is the KEY sure way on keeping your customers.  What does "being connected to my customers" mean?  Well it will vary for just about every business, but primarily it is about knowing why your customers came to you and what will they be happy with to ensure they stay.  This information then needs to take actual form of an action, can be newsletters, knowing when the ring you next time that their birthday is coming, providing them free information that is really helpful to them and most importantly, just keeping in touch.

So what does website optimisation and Google have to do with being connected?  Google's search algorithym is very secretly guarded, but one obvious trend is a quality website with lots of visits.  Therefore use your website to connect with your audience, your clients can view it just about anywhere, anytime.

In summary, understand your audience then connect with them via your website will ensure not only new business, but retain clients.
