The phone communications in Carrum Downs have been reported as down for a few days this week and it is important to understand the cost of having an outage. 

Recently we seen the fire destroy the head office of a major Taxi firm in Richmond, Victoria.  This had costs associated around well over $3M for a 24 hour period, that is the amount they could easily calculate, not the potential lost revenue ongoing from customers who saved a competitor Taxi firms number and will use them now. 

Traditionally most people believe that if the phone lines are cut out in the street, as recently has happened with Carrum Downs, that this means no communications, well you would be wrong to believe this.
