When to choose Naked DSL

Are you sick of paying for line rental for a service you barely use?

Do you have reliable mobile service coverage in all parts of your home?

Do you daily use the Internet at home?

If the above is a fair description of you, then quite possibly Naked DSL is for you.  Naked DSL is basically where you have no phone line, though the infrastructure being provided to your house still remains and provides the Internet access.

If you still have some needs for making calls from a landline of some sorts, go down the path of VOIP enabled solutions so you can still use your portable phone and make/receive calls.  Generally these calls are cheaper as well.

When you should go Naked DSL is when you are somewhat remote from the town, ie rural homes.  If you are paying a major Telco for a landline service, they are required by legislation to ensure it is available.  Naked DSL does not come with this guarantee, therefore during times of needing communicatin like bushfires, you really do place yourself and your family at risk.

Another occassion not to go Naked DSL is when you are at a reasonable distance from the local phone exchange in town, or they are know problems with the wiring out in the street.  Both of these problems can dramatically impact on the quality of the Internet service provided and equally leave you very vulnerable in times of needing to use a landline VOIP service.

In summary, Naked DSL is not for everyone, however most of the Australian population can find some easy benefits to using the service and reduce their communication costs.  If you are needing to work out which provider, go to Whirlpool for some advice in the forums.  If this doesn't help, or seems a little complicated, contact us today for our advice.
